##### Hello ! ##### Well, I sat down to make this post and load my photos and.....I needed a photo from last April to make the post. I can't even tell you how long it took me to get that photo, long enough I was becoming VERY annoyed with it. Finally I found it on a post from last year and copied it out of Hive after not being able to locate the file it was in on my desktop. # SHEESH!! ##### Then it wouldn't let me paste it in my desktop file, but I finally tried just pasting it back in this empty post and it worked. I was about to give up! Ugh... ##### Originally I thought about what else I would put here, a story, a side subject besides just my art, but by the time I wasted trying to get that darned photo, I am now feeling crunched for time as like most Sunday's, soon I will be heading out to my Mom's for a visit. ##### I made this funky flower art a couple of days ago.  ##### Recently I bought this fun piece of art (you'll see how this fits in, in a moment) and I loved the bright colors of the main design, but I also loved all the places you could see different papers with words and ads and the such, peeking through the background. The artist, Kay Smith had named it "Trashy Trashy Poppies". I didn't like the name even before I bought it and resolved to call it something else once it got to my house...ha....but a few days after it arrived, it finally hit me why she called it that. Although I had seen each part of it close up on the net and loved all those bits peeking through, my brain still did not connect the dots on that and the name. I then realized the "trashy" part was referring to the background layer. The name still doesn't sound pleasing to me, but at least I get it now. ##### Anyway.....  ##### Fast forward to a few days ago, when once again at my art table, I decided to take one of my older pieces that I didn't love and give it a do-over. I chose this mixed media piece I had made April 2024. At the time I made it, I had just begun a few weeks before, to dabble in the idea of mixed media. At the time, it was a practice piece and although I didn't think it was great composition, it had been fun to create and play. Since then I think I have come a long way.  ##### To start over, I needed a background that would blot out the previous art. Although I was not attempting to mimic my new bought art piece, I thought putting random bits of various papers all over the board would be a great idea and let that be my new background. I only left small hints of the old art here and there. ##### I thought it looked kind of neat like this.  ##### Then I began to choose some of my happily painted collage papers to see what I wanted to put on top. I chose a simple design since the background is super busy and so are my collage papers.  ##### After I tore up some papers and created this whimsical flower shape, I then squiggled around the edges with a fine black sharpie. I was trying to create a little bit of a break between the image and the background. I then went around the flower petals with a yellow paint pen and around the leaves and stem with a purple paint pen. I thought it helped. ##### So here it is sitting on one of my phone holders on my art desk, similar to the photo above of this panel's original art version.  ##### Quite an improvement... huh? I'm pretty happy with it, you know, for the type of art it is. ##### Ok! Time to finish getting ready to leave for the afternoon.
