Today, the IoT space promises to transform the business world and most importantly, the way we live. We are now aware that the most precious thing that we will need from technology is data. As enterprises are rapidly scaling the numbers of IoT sensors deployed, the IoT technology costs grow more and more. Each year, over 600 billion US dollars are spent buying and installing IoT sensors.

The DataBroker Dao was formed at SettleMint at the end of 2016. SettleMint is a Belgian/Dubai based entrepreneurial software venture, and its primary purpose is to create tools to make blockchain technology applications building an easy task by any IT team. The concept behind DataBroker DAO is a peer-to-peer marketplace, designed to provide sensor owners with a clear path to data monetization and data consumers with a decentralized market to buy sensor data. Therefore, the market will be able to control the flow of data generated that was once locked in silos, hard do access or even unavailable to consumers like researchers, entrepreneurs, smart city initiatives, etc.

### Why is this sensor data valuable to individuals?
The sensor data we are talking about on DataBroker DAO refers to the physical properties such as light, temperature, length, pressure, sound, humidity. They are called sensors because they can detect changes and send signals to other devices. The information transmitted by these signals will be so valuable when it becomes accessible because DataBroker Dao will use it to drive the evolution toward a "truly smart living." Sensor deployment globally has the power to transform sectors like, education, transportation, insurance, home Security, information and entertainment and so on.

### Stakeholders
The participants involved in the ecosystem that will have to gain from the IoT sensor market are:

 - Sensor owners will be able to monetize their data and redeem investment costs
 - Network operators will earn scale and speed for their network
 - Sensor manufacturers will have improved and efficient operations to reduce cost base
 - Academics will have access to thousands of sensors at a more affordable rate
 - Smart City Initiatives will be able to turn their expenses into investments
 - Agriculture sector will enable people to save money in managing their farms

### Databroker DAO Alliance
To facilitate collaboration between parties in this ecosystem, the team created the Databroker DAO Alliance. This connects parties from all over the world who are showing interest in buying or selling IoT data. At the moment, there are already seven names of influential companies who joined this alliance (IdentityMind Global, Skylark, Brussels Smart City, Technilog, etc.). DAO is expecting that in the future the Alliance will become a central point and a place of meeting for all those involved in exchanging IoT sensor data.
