0.000 HBDFull Steam Ahead!
Over the past few weeks, I have shared some information in my posts on Thursdays about a "fun" steam train that is still doing service in our area. In [this post](https://peakd.com/hive-150329/@jacoalberts/history-lives-on-through-this-fun-train), I showed you the first part of the route, where the train departs from Kloof. From Kloof, it runs through built-up areas until it leaves Hillcrest. In the [second post](https://peakd.com/hive-150329/@jacoalberts/a-fun-trains-route-through-a-beautiful-landscape), I showed you where the route then takes the train through the open countryside until it reaches its final destination at Inchanga station. Today I will share some photos of the actual train in action. And *this* is what it's all about! All passengers are to board the train at Kloof station. This station is not in active use as a train station anymore but has been converted into a "Pub-n-Grill" restaurant/sports bar. Yet, it is still used by the Umgeni Steam Railway. It is used as the point of departure where all passengers are to board the train for the journey to Inchanga and back. Arriving at Kloof station for your steam train adventure, this is what it looks like from the outside. Entrance is gained through this neat little gate. Let's go inside. As can be seen here, Wesley is the hero of the day, and he is doing the "Santa Run". I was lucky enough to get real up close to witness preparation for departure. And finally...it's time to go! Slowly, but surely, this awesome train was approaching me at the spot where I was standing, waiting for it to pass me... Still coming closer... Leaving the station...the journey to Inchanga has started. From there, I got in my car and went to the Gillits station, where I waited for the train to come through. I was able to get another shot from a bit closer. I then went to the Comrades Marathon halfway mark where I waited for the train to approach me from under the bridge. Again, I managed to get close enough while staying safe, to get this shot. Then I moved up higher to the point just below Monteseel, from where I got this shot of the train moving through the valley. I then went to Inchanga station, where I waited for the train to arrive. The train, approaching Inchanga station... And then entering the station. Next week, I'll share some photos showing some activities on the station and a little history of this railway line as shown in the museum at Inchanga station. So, that's it for this week. I hope you enjoyed the excitement of the train with me. Over time I will get some more photos of this train in action which I will also share here. Thank you for reading my post. I do appreciate it.
