Wednesday Walk - It Started Great but Ended With My Wife Getting Stitches in Hospital
On Sunday afternoon we decided to go for a walk. We often like to take our dog with us for her to also get out a bit and get some good exercise. We like to take her to quiet beaches or places where there is some open space for her to run.

But with the condition the beaches are currently in, the beach was no option.

I wanted to take photos of specific areas and we decided to just take her for a gentle walk.

This is where I would like to ask for your help...lol.

English is not my first language... What do you call it where you find trees planted on both sides of the road. I couldn't find it in the dictionary and the best I could come up with by searching online was that it seems to be called an "avenue"... Is that the correct description?

Anyhow, back to our #wednesdaywalk...

I had three places in mind where I wanted to take photos.

Our first stop (and walk) would be down Old Main Road in Kloof. Until last year, we used to drive down this road on a daily basis, as we lived just a block away from where I took these photos.

I pulled over and parked the car just before entering the area with trees on both sides of the road.

On the one side of the road, there is a nice walkway for joggers, cyclists, or anybody who just wants to go for a walk.

My wife decided that she would take our dog (who was on a leash), and walk ahead while I would take my time taking photos and we would meet at the end of the road before we return to the car again.

So, my wife crossed the road. There is a slight downward slope from the road to the walkway and as she went down towards the walkway, she must have stepped on something slippery and she fell.

I saw it happening and rushed across the road to assist her. I saw a small mark on her denim on her knee but there was no blood or anything at that time. Obviously, she felt embarrassed and assured me that she was okay. She insisted on going ahead with our plans. Although I was still concerned, she convinced me that she was okay and I agreed to carry on with our walk.

I took this photo just after the fall...

Standing at the same spot, just looking back, you can clearly see how you would come in from the open before entering this area with the trees alongside the road.

Going back across the road, standing behind our car where it was parked, I took this photo also looking back where we came from.

Standing in front of the car where it was parked, I got a clear view of the road ahead.

I took another shot. Although still in the city, this photo gives me a feeling of peace and calmness.

I soon caught up with my wife as I was concerned about her after the fall.

As I caught up with her, Arrow (our dog) obviously became aware of me behind them and turned around, facing me.

She looked straight at me (with excitement and her ears standing up straight) which I thought would have made a beautiful photo, but she got distracted by an oncoming vehicle in the road.

By then I wanted to know how Elmarie was feeling. As she turned around, I noticed her denim was soaked in blood and she admitted that her leg was starting to hurt.

Although she wanted me to continue taking photos, I refused and insisted on taking her to the hospital.

I just took our dog home and then rushed through to the hospital with Elmarie.

Her knee was cut open. They first had to close a vein inside her knee that was cut open and was bleeding profusely and then she received another seven stitches to close the wound on her knee.

No need to say that that was the end of taking photos for the day.

We went back home from the hospital and both our daughters came over to see that mom is okay and assisted wherever they could.

And that was our walk. It started out at leisure and very peacefully, yet it ended on a bad note.

Thank you for reading my post. I do appreciate it!
