Aches and Pains
Yesterday, I drove into town to help a friend finish packing up his house and moving stuff. He and his wife have been renting, but now it was time to move elsewhere, and chaos ensued. I have moved more than a few times myself, and it has never been as disorganized and chaotic as this. To be fair, the lady of the house has an infant to manage, but the surplus of youthful helpers were more interested in smartphone shenanigans than in getting stuff done. Of course, midnight last night was their deadline, so stuff had to get done anyway.

My pre-existing back issues limited my ability to assist, but I carried backrests of a sectional sofa up a slippery slope and then a long flight of stairs. I hauled bags of trash and bags of miscellaneous garments. I toted totes. I also wrapped some paintings and picture frames in blankets for safer transportation. Today, my back is reminding me that I did a bit too much of all that.

If you have a move in mind, try to plan the logistics of what goes where, what order it will be loaded and unloaded, and how to make efficient use of your storage or transportation space. Ask at local grocery and liquor stores for discarded boxes. The latter especially are small enough to easily be handled, and sturdy enough for books or glass. Label boxes wit their contents and their destination so things are more likely to get to wherever they need to be.

That's probably the extent of my posting for today. I am off to vegetate in front of a TV screen while I recover.
