0.000 HBDThree Game Campaigns on Kickstarter
While browsing Kickstarter, I found several interesting campaigns related to tabletop games, and thought I would share them here. I can't back all of them myself, alas, but perhaps these may pique your interest. These all end well after this post pays out. The first two are already fully funded, and the third is likely to hit its goal. *** # [Tiny Cthulhu](https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/gallantknightgames/tiny-cthulhu/description) A minimalist role-playing game (RPG) using a simple dice system that requires only three standard six-sided dice. That's the "tiny" part. Cthulhu itself is standard-size Lovecraftian horror, presumably. The more funding they get, the more pre-written adventure hooks they can include in the book. I have another game book from this publisher, *Tiny Wasteland,* and while I haven't had a chance to run a game yet, it looks like a solid system heavy on atmosphere and role-playing while light on charts. D&D is great, but there is a lot to juggle for players and game masters alike, so a streamlined system like this is a pleasant change of pace. *** # [Towns & Taverns](https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/gamingbooks/towns-and-taverns-2-modular-books-of-battle-mats-for-roleplay?ref=discovery&term=map%20books) Making maps is tedious and time-consuming. These books promise a modular map system that can be set up in an instant, and combined in many different ways to create scenery on the fly or plan a campaign in detail. These are obviously designed primarily for D&D or Pathfinder, but most of their preview pages could work in just about any pre-modern setting. I like the layout in practice and the concept behind it. *** # [Byzantine Miniatures](https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/fireforgegames/byzantine-miniatures?ref=nav_search&result=project&term=byzantine%20miniatures) These models are designed for historical war games, but they are also excellent options for fantasy armies and role-playing games. Fireforge Games has an excellent reputation for detailed sculpts and quality manufacturing, and this line is a departure from the typical western European medieval miniatures I have seen on store shelves from the likes of Perry Miniatures. Do you need heavy cavalry, horse archers, or Vikings? Here's your opportunity! *** *All images are sourced from the respective campaign pages.
