I love the fact that the trending posts for the past few days is starting to featuring **more famous people**. Well deservedly they are being recognised on the Steemit platform. These guys, have steadily been working on their reputation in the industry over the past years and now Steemit is another platform where they deserve recognition. Yes I am speaking about the likes of the Jeff Berwick's of the CryptoWorld - better known as the @dollarvigilante. ## Whyis this good for us? https://newsroom.cisco.com/documents/10157/14740/block-chain_1200x627_hero_021016.jpg/e7cecf2a-b65b-43df-b791-9000f7960060?t=1454974331642 [Image Credit](https://newsroom.cisco.com/documents/10157/14740/block-chain_1200x627_hero_021016.jpg/e7cecf2a-b65b-43df-b791-9000f7960060?t=1454974331642) Well, these guys have literally thousands of followers that they will draw to the platform. I am not sure why there are people mentioning things like "Using your fame to get even richer" or "Another post to milk Steemit". This is just ridiculous statements and should not have a place in the community. Remember we are all a [result of our own history](https://steemit.com/life/@jacor/our-personaility-a-result-of-our-history-and-experiences)! As I mentioned in a previous post. The reason that we should be extremely excited about these guys joining the platform is that their followers will come to. Thousands of new users! And trust me we all want this! If you look at the **Facebook's** of the world where we have a user base of more than 1 Billion users, where the owners are only a few and they are **making billions of dollars and what do the users get ?** ***Nothing***I am wondering if the majority of the platform realises, that Steemit is the start of wonderful things in the technology world! According to me it has a great chance of going mainstream and be an accepted currency across the world. Yes, we are only ***starting the road to success*** at the moment. Just think if you can spend your Steem Dollars or Steem Power as part of your monthly or daily shopping. I believe we should all listen to the vision of @dan and @ned in their interview with @dollarvigilante . They make it very clear that the Steemit platform, is only the start of a chain reaction, and we will all benefit from this. It's open Source, and everybody with a decent business idea, can invest in the platform and build another application on this platform. My question to all those bitching about, other people making money on the platform, is: Why don’t you take some time and focus on the future. Think a bit on what other applications can be built on this platform, write a business plan. Get investors and build a reputation for yourself. You never know, you might be the next @dollarvigilante on the next platform. ## Why do stuff go viral? I think in today's world everybody knows what going viral means, so I will not repeat that. I have however done a bit of research on why things go viral. The best will be to use an example: Let's say you build a website on Tuesday. On that day five people visit your website, they are your first users, or first generation. They are there because they googled something which is available on your site. They find your argument so compelling that 1 of them tweets about it and 3 of them post it on their Facebook pages. Now 7 of their friends visit your website and another three visit your website from the tweet they received. The second generation of your website users. Now from the twelve - second generation users - five post again to Facebook and three tweets about it. All of a sudden by Thursday your on you 30th generation of users and 50 000 people were on your site. ***And so forth*** - # The math behind going viral The most important thing about the example above, is that each new generation of users consisted of more users than the previous generation. Guess what there is actually math behind this: **Generation X visitors/Generation X-1 visitors=the Generation X “virality ratio"** [Credit for the math](http://www.shareprogress.org/blog/math-going-viral/) The bottom line for the example above is that things goes viral, though our ability to share. This can be through social media, word-of-mouth , advertising campaigns and many other mediums. The big thing is that social sharing is giving your content - in our case STEEMIT - a whole new audience. Another key thing for something to go viral is that it must be good! It will obviously not help, to try to get something viral without some real value behind it. So we have all the ingredients, A massively good platform, where people can earn money, a massive user base to start the wave for the viral campaign. I have scheduled 3 gatherings at my house for later this week, where I am training some of the older generation on Steemit, how to write. They have so many good experiences to share on a platform like this. At this point in time, it is still about building a reputation, from where you will start building your following. I really hope that there are not many more posts aimed at people, who write excellent posts, have built a reputation over years and now are helping Steemit in a positive way. ## @dollarvigilante , welcome to this platform, and you earned every single little steemcent, I believe it is just one more step in the evolution to the internet of value! # Happy steeming! ***Please follow me on my blog @jacor if you enjoy my topics and content.*** @jacor **features authors to promote a diversity of content and new authors.
