## Exploring a Slice of Coastline at a Lighthouse --- Hi friends, This past weekend I took an impromptu trip with a friend south of Da Nang to check out a lighthouse I'd seen in passing many times. This Lighthouse has long intrigued me, standing solitary above the trees along this rugged coastline. Though we didn't end up touring the lighthouse itself, our drive down and stop for photos turned into a joyful adventure of small moments.  With overcast skies keeping the temperature moderate, we hopped on our motorbike and hit the open road.  After forty minutes of enjoying the cool breeze from the drive, we drove down towards where the lighthouse stood. Seeing it standing above the trees gave me a sense of respect for both its function and endurance.  We paused to snap some photos of the picturesque scene. The striking lighthouse against the clouds made an iconic image of Vietnam's coast. I also captured some fun shots like a chicken drinking from a puddle, and a child's tiny wooden chair looking like a haphazard disaster waiting to happen.  Small moments like these give meaning to my adventures. Rather than rushing onward to some grand destination, I've learned to appreciate impromptu stops and little imperfections that add texture to a place. A weathered chair or a drinking chicken tell a story just like an imposing lighthouse.  While we couldn't tour the lighthouse up close, gazing from afar was enough to ignite my imagination that day. Lighthouses have long captured people's intrigue with their vital role guiding ships to safety. Though largely automated now, they still symbolize steadfastness and security. No matter how fierce the storm, a lighthouse holds fast to warn and protect passing vessels.  I think there's a metaphor for life in the noble lighthouse. Through tumultuous times and trials, we can choose to stand tall, stay true to our purpose, and give light to others who may depend on our direction. As tempting as it is to escape challenges, the bravest path is often to face difficulty with resilience. Our brief stop concluded with a bonus - we discovered a tree drooping under the weight of ripe mangoes beside the road. Wow, too far out of reach to reach the mangos, but the abundance of fresh foods so close is always nice to see.  The simple pleasures of a scenic drive, interesting photos, beautiful scenery, and fresh fruit gave me appreciation for weekends like this. I don't need elaborate plans to have a meaningful time. Some of life's joys come from impromptu moments of connection, awe, and delight in the world around us.  Let me know if you have any similar adventures where stopping spontaneously led to joy!
