I think ODLK1 is being used to hijack our computers to help influence the whole Russian collusion that got Trump elected president of the United States of America and we are ignorantly letting the Kremlin gain access to our computers and the Cold War isn't over it's moved to BOINC and we are all just pawns. 
What significance is there in 75% of the Boinc projects? What significance is there in most the whitelisted projects? How do you know that the data crunched actually will be put to use let alone help anything. Like Amicable Numbers or yoyo@home? 
Seti@home is about the only guarantee and even then is limited as they are watching just 1 little area of the frequency spectrum @ 3.5mhz ( we go from 1khz up past 300ghz  ) and are basically looking for aliens using spark gap transmitters broadcasting in CW ( Morse code ) so unless ET is flying around using the same radio the Titanic used pretty much SOL.
