We leave in a period of time in human history were bad news about [families ](https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/family) increases in an alarming rate. While new marriages grow in [arithmetic progression](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arithmetic_progression),  separation and its disastrous partner Divorce grows in [geometric progression](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geometric_progression), (that is to say that the rate of separation and divorce out weighs the rate of new legal marriages). We hear a lot about cases of failed families and the case of  separations and divorces Are on increase at an alarming rate. In Norway for example, 22,100 marriages were registered in [2017](https://www.ssb.no/en/ekteskap) while 20,442 cases of separations and divorces were recorded in the same year,  which means that more than 92% of of marriages registered in 2017 ended that same year. 
Between 1990 and 2015, the divorce rate in the United States doubled for those over the age of 50 and tripled for those over the age of 65. The news about failed families has really made us forget to look at what goes right in the families of those that succeed. In this article and the ones to follow,  secret of those families that succeed will be discussed,  so that we can learn from then in order to succeed in ours (both married,  about to and yet to marry).  We will also look at some principles from the Holy Scriptures that help them succeed.
