I took a long walk along a lakeside. One can walk all the way around, but because I am recovering from an illness and being in the hospital, I just wanted to do part of the loop.

The hilarious thing is that when I turned around and went back, I overshot my end point and kept going. I was people watching, enjoying the beautiful views of the lake, and listening to a book. And so I simply passed right by my exit point from the lakeside path and kept going. (I’ll come back to this.)

It was a “beautiful day” in the sense that it was the first day of the season after our very cold winters when it finally began to feel like spring. Some people were out with shorts, sleeveless shirts, etc. I still needed a jacket!

Anyway, it was very fun to see so many people out enjoying the path and the lake, and getting fresh air and exercise. There were even people out on kayaks!

And so, with all the sights and sounds, I walked a full 20 minutes past the spot where I needed to turn to get back to my car. And you know what that means, right? It means I walked 40 minutes longer than I intended.

It wouldn’t have been a problem, except that my shoes were causing a terrible, painful rub on my heels. I stuffed tissues into my shoes as a buffer and kept going, and finally got back to my car!
