Black and white portrait goodness

I've always loved black and white photography, i could never put my finger on it for years and probably still cant. I think the absence of colour just draws your attention to details that are sometimes lost for example textures stand out a lot more in black and white. I always feel as if i can feel a black and white photograph not just look at it.
