Are people inherently good, inherently bad, or somewhere in the middle?

0.000 HBDAre people inherently good, inherently bad, or somewhere in the middle?
I've been a Buddhist for probably about 20 years now. I'm not a particularly good Buddhist. I've had days where I've drank too much. I've days where I've just lazed around and done nothing. https://media.giphy.com/media/xT1R9ViugcpmcEqHtu/giphy.gif _Source: Gihpy.com_ I've had days when I've been irritated and frustrated with people. Today was one of those days. The reason is because my car was smashed into while at I was shopping at the grocery store. I posted pictures of it earlier and I really thought that I could start to get over it. I've been thinking a lot about people though. Quite a few people have let me down lately by not living up to their potential and being quality people. One friend at work gets another friend fired over an argument. A guy hits a car and drives off with no note. A man yells at his server for no reason. A large party of 40 people run their server ragged then tip him nothing at all. How can people just not care about other people like that? I'm thinking and hoping that the guy who hit my car was probably just freaking out and took off without realizing that he was committing such a bad action. https://media.giphy.com/media/xT1XGEyW6Ra9TMA1vW/giphy.gif _Source: Giphy.com_ Maybe he took off because he wasn't sure what he should do. Maybe he even thought about stopping but he still didn't. I'm hoping it was something like that because when I walked out of that grocery store I almost got hit by a white pickup truck that was flying by. Since there is white paint on my car and it would have taken a very heavy car to strike mine to do that much damage it must have been something like a pickup truck. I'm thinking that the guy must have seen me and then taken off before I could catch him. Maybe this guy is living a terrible life and he was getting yelled at all the time and dealing with something terrible. He is just one example though. The example that makes me wonder if the world is full of mostly good people or mostly bad people. I know one single incident shouldn't do something like that. I deal with people all day long because I work at a restaurant but the fact is I'm dealing with them as a server who's trying to get money from them. On the other hand they're dealing with me as a client...... so of course I'm going to be nice to them and of course they're going to be nice to me. https://media.giphy.com/media/yyZRSvISN1vvW/giphy.gif _Source: Giphy.com_ Every now and then I might get somebody that's just a mean person but that's just natural. Was the person that hit my car a mean person? I doubt it. I'm thinking that he probably felt like he had no recourse. I'm thinking that he had no insurance and he got scared and drove off. As a Buddhist I'm supposed to say that I think people are all in the middle. We take the Middle Road. We do everything in moderation. We walk slowly and pay attention. We are mindful of our surroundings. We all should treat people the right way. Leave a note. Tip your server. Don't lose your temper. Don't treat people badly. It's such a frustrating situation to start thinking about the way people treat each other and to see that they're not treating each other as well as they should. Now it's time to go to work and deal with more people. I hope I see some really nice people today. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4296/35316190583_66b8830143.jpg
