Let me start this by saying that pretty much everyone that works at a restaurant is an alcoholic.

If you're working at a restaurant then one of two things has probably happened....

1. You're a young person just starting out and getting your feet wet in the world.

2. You're an older person that had another job or career and that didn't work out so now you're working at a restaurant in order to make ends meet.

I know this to be true because I train people almost every day and I almost always see either number one or number two with the occasional exception.

Both of these groups get together every day after work and go to the local bar.

They generally spend almost all the money that they make on alcohol.

So what happens on a day like the 5th of July....  when everyone has gone out celebrating the night before but no one has the next day off?

I'll tell you what happens.

The Aftermath.

I got to work at 10:30.

Only one server was there setting up the restaurant when there should have been three.

Of the ten people on the lineup only six showed up and four people no showed.

These are people that are desperately trying to make ends meet but yet they can't help themselves from going out every night and getting completely drunk and spending all their money.

Only two of the other people that showed up were actually ready for work.

The other four were still drunk and hungover.

One of them was in the bathroom on the toilet almost the whole time.

Another one constantly had to sit down and put his hands on his head while he moaned uncomfortably.

It's a good thing we didn't have much business because this was a laughable lineup.

I know a good time is a good time but I don't understand why people do this to themselves.
