A group of small business owners got together to show support for a new initiative that will force all businesses to provide $15 an hour to employees by 2020. Hilariously, things didn't go as planned. Currently Washington State minimum wage is at $9.47 ranking 8th for highest minimum wage states. The bill I-1433 proposes to increase minimum wage up to $13.50 by 2020 throughout the state. This initiative is the next step after Seattle passed $15 an hour minimum wage starting as early as 2017 for some businesses. Some Seattle businesses were forced to close after minimum wage hike went into effect. In an ice cream shop four business owners discussed I-1433 with reporters (I can't embed the video so it is in the link). The shop's owner Molly Moon Neitzel started off answering questions about how wonderful this initiative will be and how needed socialism is. Neitzel previously spoke at The White House Summit on the United State of Women in June 2016. Typical statist (leftist) rhetoric, right? During the interview Felix Ngoussou, owner of Lake Chad Cafe in Seattle's Central District, threw their planned kickoff into a state of frustration. Ngoussou said "higher minimum wage also comes with some labor burden," and that "I used to have four [staff]. I now have two." Ngoussou doesn't think this initiative will work everywhere, and he would be correct. Later on Neitzel, visibly frustrated, stumbles trying to recover from Ngoussou's responses by saying Washington State has a "very messed up tax system ... [and] the fact that we have no income tax is something we should address at some point but this is not the initiative to tackle that". The second part seems like a freudian slip due to her displeasure at Ngoussou. Well then you have it now. Their goal is to slowly erode our rights away to fit their "beliefs" and "ideals". The Foundation for Economic Education (FEE) has put out several articles discussing the issues with minimum wage: https://fee.org/articles/the-truth-about-the-minimum-wage/ https://fee.org/articles/the-fallacy-of-the-minimum-wage/ Welcome to the land of the sheep and home of the slaves...
My name is Jeffrey Hann, @jeffreyahann, and I'm an anarchist/voluntarist, business analyst, graphics and website designer, and content creator.
