Exploring Caucasus, Via-Tau peak (3,820 m)
Hello again! This time I will post recap of Via-Tau peak we did on summer 2016. It is also located in Adir-Su valley.
The route we took was categorized as 2B (RUS).

We left "Ullu-Tau" base camp at 2PM and we had to hike for 3 hours till we got to our tent place. We build our tents ate small meal and took lovely pictures of our surrounding. Just before going to bed we had a small chat about ascent upon which we decided to move out at 6AM.

When I woke up I stumbled on bad news. The weather conditions were bad, we were stuck in a thick fog. So the only option was to cancel our ascent. And I emediatly went back to bed.

When I woke up after couple of hours I found our friend going through our so called "Kitchen"

Once everybody woke up we decided to climb next morning because weather wasn't getting any better. After that we realised that we only had food supply for one day... So me and two other mates had to hike back to base camp for our food. It took us 4 hours to come back...

After healthy meal we agreed to move out next morning same time as before. But guess what... Weather hasn't changed a bit - same old fog stood upon us. So we waited for couple of hours until it got a bit better, cause we were comitted to peak anyways. So we left camp 3 hour later at 9AM.

First we had to hike up the moraine after which started 60-70 degree snow ascent. And the weather was far from good, clouds were running over at fast pace and at some point it even started raining. Once we got up the snow we put on our gear to climb final part of peak over the cliffs. We had to be cautios cause all the rock were slippery.

This was probable scariest part of climb due to slippery cliff.
