#### Purpose of the experiment I continue this experiment because it provides interesting *facts*. The ones who are very involved in gridcoin know that RAC can change and is not predictable for various reasons. This experiment shows this with real life data and can help newcomers by example. RAC is the result of some math I explained [here](https://steemit.com/gridcoin/@jefpatat/the-math-behind-boinc-rac). Some say this experiment shows nothing because there are plans to change the gridcoin source to work with a point delta instead of RAC. But even if this change happens we can draw conclusion because I provide the raw point accumulation as well. #### Evolution How did the experiment evolve since last time? Two things to notice since last time. First the team RAC is increasing again. This does not seem to influence awarded points. Second observation is the change in magnitude due to the addition of the sourcefinder project to the whitelist. There is a sudden drop of 0.13862011 in the magnitude which is to be expected. Because the whitelist grows from 25 to 26 projects each of the existing 25 projects can expect a decrease in magnitude of 1/26=3.85%. The team RAC increased by about one percent causing about the same decrease in magnitude. The 0.13862011 drop is a decrease by 4.6% which equals almost exactly 3.85 + 1. Some timeshifts have been neglected here but it is clear to see the effect of adding a project. It is to be expected that some processing capacity will move to this new project. As always with gridcoin this is impossible to predict. Sourcefinder requires VirtualBox and that might limit the amount of movement. It's also impossible to predict how much will be moved from the VGTU project. It is however very interesting now to continue the data gathering to see how this affects this specific host. One extra note: the server has been down for a few hours and has been restarted a couple of times for maintenance. It's impossible to see any evidence of this in the data.

This post has most info about the first chart: [The RAC experiment progress and request for help](https://steemit.com/gridcoin/@jefpatat/the-rac-experiment-progress-and-request-for-help) This post has the motivation for the second chart: [The RAC experiment continues](https://steemit.com/gridcoin/@jefpatat/the-rac-experiment-continues)

Posted on Utopian.io - Rewarding Open Source Contributors
