Valentine's day has always been a special day for expressing love to family, friends and lovers in particular. For me, this year's valentine was special because some great Steemians and I expressed our love to the children at the Orphanage, here in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State of Nigeria. 

We contributed towards this outreach and bought provisions, food stuff, toiletries, snacks, drinks, stationeries and a beautiful cake for the children. As we arrived, the kids were already smiling and waving at us. I was happy I didn't miss the visit for anything.

The children welcomed us warmly with an amazing song, and they smiled while singing to us. @samstickkz gave an opening speech, introduced the team to the kids, and we also got to know them by their names. @ekjosh was the motivational speaker, he told them, their dreams ain't limited to their present situation. They shouldn't look down on themselves, they can become what they desire to be in future, it's in their minds to be successful, present condition not a barrier. Surprisingly, a little boy got an outstanding result with first position, we were amazed. 

@annieben asked the kids, about their future ambition, they boldly raised their hands, when she mentioned the profession. Some wanted to be Doctors, Lawyers, Engineers, Teachers and even President in future. I was kinda relieved, that they are thinking positively.

We celebrated an 8-year old girl's birthday, she's a February born. We sang for her, and she cut the cake with other kids. @samstickkz popped wine, the kids were excited. We also shared snacks and drinks with the kids, they didn't rush for it, rather, they waited for their turn to receive. Quite impressive. 

The management ensured we spent quality time with the kids without interruption. We got drinks for them too. They appreciated us for coming. I just hope they don't get tired taking care of these kids, cos they need so much love.

I'm lucky to have parents and a family to thrive on, sadly these children wouldn't know what a real family is until they have their own. Moreover, they are lacking all those words of care, anger, love and all the feelings that parents express towards their children.

This experience gave me deeper love and understanding for the children, especially those who are abandoned, neglected, and orphaned. I feel fulfilled, but not completely, being part of the team(@samstickkz , @samuelwealth, @ekjosh, @annieben, @vheobong, @xpressng, @peterwrites, @enoye, @emem, @vic-essien) that impacted in the lives of these children.

This is the beauty of the steem blockchain, empowering us with resources to reach out to those in need. Thanks @samuelwealth for initiating this outreach.
