A good number of people are only concerned about themselves and and there welfare. Some people just extend it a little further to their families. But that is not the way to live our lives, especially as believers. We are meant to bear one another in mind. Some problems will not exist and some people will not be in certain situations if only they had people that reached out to them.

Showing concern for ourselves and our family members is not bad at all. But it should not stop there. We should extend it to people around us. If we think only of ourselves that makes us selfish. God does not encourage selfishness. As many as we can show acts of love and kindness to we should not hesitate to do so.

>Galatians 6:10 As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.

The bible tells us to do good to all men, they may include our family, neighbors, colleagues at school or work, friends, and even enemies. This excludes no one. We don't select who to do good to. No matter the state we find ourselves, there are people we are more privileged than, we expects us to do them good.
