On Saturday, Jux announced the new game mode at Hivefest 2022. I've embedded the video segment below if you'd like to see it (plus the amazing LARP at the beginning). This post will cover what I gleaned from the new mechanics, covering what we know and also what we don't know about this cool new RSG game mode!

**The first part of the video is more of an intro and overview of RSG**. Skip to `6:08:30` to get right to the good stuff ๐Ÿ˜‰

# ๐Ÿ”Š RAVES and how they (might?) work

Here's the recap:

* ๐Ÿค˜๐Ÿผ FA1 through 4 cards will be used to give you access to several "always on" raves (you need FC cards to get FA cards via the Record Signing mission, or buy them on secondary)
* ๐Ÿ† If the rave ends and it's "winning" that's GOOD for you if you're in it. (Cut of the rave reward pool, presumably!)
* โ“ Rave ending times are randomized
* ๐Ÿ‘ฎ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ There will be new NFTs (e.g. police raid) that let you spoil / boost / counter-spoil raves
* ๐Ÿคต๐Ÿผ VIP zone = special rewards pool. You will need backstage pass cards to access this. Cost of backstage pass card = 1 STARPRO currently
* ๐Ÿ’ฝ Raves will have types (e.g. vinyl rave) that give you bonuses for collecting certain kinds of RSG NFTs (e.g. records)
* โณ This feature will not drop immediately. It will be tested for a while until it's ready.
* ๐Ÿ’ธ Size of and nature of rave rewards **UNKNOWN** at this time. Speculation is below the little gallery. Thanks to @ketsuma for screencapping some of these during the presentation!

# ๐Ÿ”Ž Speculation, unknowns, strategy
RSG's primary function is to make a fun game. So we can be sure that these raves will present players with more "interesting decisions," as those are the core of any good game with a strategic nature.

We also know that there's pressure to burn STARBITS. If you listen to the whole Hivefest talk, Jux states that they're aware STARBITS are inflationary so they have been working on transferring value and utility to the non-inflationary token STARPRO.

Getting FA cards to use the Rave does indirectly cost STARPRO as you need FC cards to gain FA cards. Also, the VIP function of the Raves uses Backstage Pass cards, which cost STARPRO.

**Prediction:** Other Rave NFTs (like the RV1 Police Raid) will also cost STARPRO.

**๐Ÿ•น๏ธ Strategy** will presumably hinge on teamwork, group coordination, and a bit of luck. I am guessing that if a Rave has a lot of people in it, the eventual rewards will be split proportional to the "power" of the rave's committed FA cards. So it's not always good to be in a huge rave unless you've tons of FA's in there. It might be better to grab a bigger slice of a smaller pie, so to speak.

But the biggest raves "win" when the timer runs down, so people looking to spoil raves will need RV cards to try and impact outcomes. If those do indeed cost STARPRO, these spoiling strategies may not be all that accessible... unless...

STARPRO costs are scaled similar to the Promote Fan Club mission. That mission only costs 0.024 STARPRO currently (*it changes based on... something I forget*). Anyway, if the RV cards are managed in a way so that smaller fish can buy up a few easily (especially now that we have a [STARBITS:STARPRO LP](https://peakd.com/hive-131619/@wagginston/pools-pools-pools-building-the-hive-economy)), then I can see that helping accessibility.

**๐Ÿ’ฐ The other thing that might happen:** Rave rewards are paid in STARPRO or NFTs.

To issue STARBITS as Rave rewards seems counter to the desire to put deflationary pressure on the token. But! STARPRO issuance is carefully managed right now via Music Promoter. I also don't know if churning out Rave rewards in lots of STARPRO would make sense either.

**๐Ÿ”ฅ Another unknown:** will RV, FA or Backstage Pass cards be burned when you use them for Raves?

If so, this raises the stakes vis a vis Rave rewards considerably. If there's a chance I could lose my NFTs by being part of a losing Rave... the possible rewards better be *very* much worth it (or else no one will want to play, or people will have lots of NOT fun losing).

Huge Rave rewards to make up for lost NFTs feels like it'll be challenging against the desire to control STARPRO issuance and deflate STARBITS... so my general hunch is that some Rave-related NFTs will not be burnt, but perhaps enter a cooldown once used for a Rave. So if I invest 100 STARPRO to stack up on Backstage Passes... I can't constantly bully my way into the VIP rewards every time.

# ๐Ÿ”ฌ Beta testing
Raves won't come online immediately. There will be testing, so if this really intrigues you keep an eye out for opportunities to volunteer! I have no idea if RSG has already filled a roster to test, so I'll be looking out for that myself, haha.

It's possible that they're still figuring out some of the finer details, so I'm sure opinions, thoughts, and ideas are all still welcome.

I'll end this here before it becomes an essay! ๐Ÿ˜œ Rock on, Buskerians :)
