I've said here the other time that my string beans that I planted last November 29 has finally grown and have leaves already. I had a site visit yesterday and what I found was really bad.

When you plant, it's expected to encounter some pests that will harm your plants to the extent of killing it and my plants are facing that kind of problem at the moment. This pest is called **BLACK APHIDS** and they are common in string beans here. They will infect the string beans as early as there are leaves present already.

As you can see from the photo above, the black aphids are residing under the leaves which is hard to notice but since I saw them in the shoots of my strings beans, I suspected that there might be under their leaves and I was right. There's a lot of them and their presence were already affecting the growth of my beans.

From what I observed from my past experienced regarding this pest, the string beans will not grow anymore and will develop black spots on the leaves. That scenario is really bad and will create a chance for the plant to meet it's death if it's not prevented early. I searched online on how to get rid of them and I found out that it will be removed and kill by soap and water.

I already tried it before actually and it's effective but I don't have a spray to use so this time I removed and killed them manually by hands. It took me how many hours to individually removed them but it's better than to be sorry later on. Now that there's a pest in my plant already, I'm paying my plants a visit every morning now. I carefully check on them one by one.

While I did it, I can't help but to be distracted by this bug that landed on my hands and seems it likes to be taken a photo so I did one and after that it flew away immediately.

After I finished the mission we decided to go home already but before going home straight, I checked my cassavas also if they grow already and finally they grew atlast and have many leaves. Three to four months from now they will bear cassavas already that I can harvest. Hoping that it will develop many so that I can be happy. hihi.

When we got home, my cousin noticed that the fruits of my mulberries were already ripe and some are about to be ripe. She said she want some so I get the ripe and half ripe for her to eat.

She loves this one and I'm glad that she likes it. She's not the only one who likes it but my grandmother also and aside from us, the birds are joing the fun in picking them up also. They get their portion from the top part which out of my reach.

**I just let them because this is the other purpose why I planted mulberries. I just love hearing their songs while they get it.**

There's a lot of it at the top but I can't get it so I just get the fruits that I can reach as shown in the photo. I harvested enough for us and we enjoyed eating it.

A short history about my plant mulberry. My classmate gave it to me as a gift when I was grade 10. I was just asking back then if what are the fruit bearing trees in their home and she said that they have mulberries. I got curious what that is and she gave me 5 cuttings of it's stem. I planted it as per her instructions and look at it now, it's already big and providing us some berries to pick.

It's really great to have a friend who's into planting and gradening also because you can share something for each other. **That's the perk of having a friend with common interest.**

That concludes this day garden journal and I hope you had a great day so far.

**Plant, plant and you'll survive.
