**Playa del Carmen** in Mexico is another fantastic spot for those seeking a home in the sun. There’s a large expat community here so you’ll always have somebody to talk to, and the destination itself has everything you could ever want, all wrapped up in a place with a low cost of living. What’s not to like?

If you want something a little more foreign and sophisticated, then consider **Paris,** the city of lights in France. This city doesn’t really need an introduction, nor an explanation – but it’s a place that everyone should visit at least once in their life to soak up the ambience, the culture, and of course – that delicious food.

So, these are just twenty of my top picks in a huge world that has many more. As digital nomadism grows, more and more intrepid work-travelers are going off the beaten track to find a new home and put down roots in new areas of the world.

With many of these place having a low cost of living, creating a life in these place is easy, and retiring can come even quicker than you expect. However, why not celebrate your financial independence with a new-found global independence?

It’s a big world out there and you could discover the next Chiang Mai, or find the partner of your dreams in a secluded spot of the world. There’s so much adventure out there, and you can access it all with a laptop, an internet connection, and a desire to make any place you lay your hat your home.

But don’t forget to tell us if you find a really cool new hot spot!
