## Hoopoe in my Garden - Afrikaans is Hoephoep - Zulu name is umZolozolo Such a flash of colour, not a regular; but a very welcome visitor to see. At the moment there have been quite a few around again, possibly it is the time of year teaching young ones. Markings on the head when the 'crown' is closed are so distinct, a bird you would easily recognize when you see them. Quietly going about their morning breakfast without a care in the world, this family of three stayed awhile. Our area has some grand old trees where they would find safe nesting space, they don't stay long after the eggs have hatched, known as nomadic birds. Here is the hoop-hoop song, captured by Chris Krog (Standard YouTube License) _(Click to hear the call, or right click on the mouse to open a new tab to listen.)_ [](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=03DbFxeJaPU "Hoopoe") Have a wonderful week bird spotting, hope you enjoyed the **hoopoe photography** (which is all my own) and video of the **hoopoe calling.**

[](https://steemit.com/created/teamsouthafrica) Team South Africa banner designed by @bearone
