I brew tea and Stare at glassy trees Swaying In rain Like seaweed.
My arms Suddenly empty Need you To fill the hole Inside me. You know The way of the wind In the night, The desolate alleys My soul takes— And you know I don't control anything Let alone The shadings of my sin So maybe I need To say it again: I'm not flawless-- I don't expect it From you or want bare walls Perfect and empty. So don’t hang back In uncertainty; I want your soul Trapped In the amber of your skin. So I can say some day You stayed Not because of rain Or being swayed I was Flawless, And without sin... Only that you were wiling To finally Let me in.

© 2020, John J Geddes.
