 <p><br> I remember back in 2018, I travelled to Poland to be a part of Steemfest 3. And at the first day of event, I heard something that changed the way I approached my blockchain journey forever. Aggroed from Splinterlands was on stage and he said this in his presentation.... *"If you aren't using Discord, you are doing Steem wrong!"* It got a lot of chuckles but it made sense...For years, 'crypto communities' have seemed to gravitate to Discord for chats, discussions and the latest scoops! And back then, if you wanted to know anything about any project on the blockchain...Discord was a must! I have to admit, I have a hard time keeping up with them all lol. I'm a member of basically every Hive based Discord community out there and seem to join new ones every month. And while I'm not active in all these 'servers', I do spend a good chunk of my time poking around and trying to keep up to date with everything. #### It's a blessing and a curse..... It's good to have a place where communities can grow. Especially with all the features that Discord offers owners of the servers. Lots of cool tricks, tools and bots to add for the users to really get a ton of value. So again, I get it. I understand why Discord is so popular and continues to be a 'town hall' of sorts. But here's the problem, that's an awful lot of engaging and chats that take place off chain. Now I also understand, not everything has to be or should be on chain, but you have to think...Is this a missed opportunity to add a ton of activity to the blockchain and create our own...Discord...On Hive? There has been attempts in the past however they have never caught on, but I think @leofinance started something amazing with **Threads**. We see the 'comments under a main post' which translates into the ability for users to engage to their hearts content, without any 'Thread' they create being a top level post on chain. Gets rid of the 'low effort content' people seem to have a problem with on chain. I still say, value on Hive does not need to be a Pulitzer Prize winning article. It needs to create a buzz, and get engagement going! That can be a picture on @liketu , a question on @reverio or..... **A discussion on a Discord-like app :)** Just me thinking out loud....And obviously, this isn't a competitor to Discord, I'm thinking more of a way to keep conversations here on Hive. On an analytics angle, the more people using the blockchain, commenting and creating every day only adds value to the overall community. Plus, adds even more use case for our beloved token and chain in the process.
