*In Cuba, antique or classic cars are very common. Walking down the streets anywhere in Havana and seeing a classic car is a very common sight, in fact, it is rare to see new and luxury cars. These vehicles, which in other places would be considered relics, are an integral part of daily life on the streets of the city.*

>*En Cuba los autos antiguos o clásicos, son muy comunes. Caminar por las calles de cualquier sitio de La Habana y ver un auto clásico es algo muy frecuente, de hecho, lo poco común es ver autos nuevos y de lujo. Estos vehículos, que en otros lugares serían considerados reliquias, son una parte integral de la vida diaria de las calles de la ciudad.*

*These cars from the first half of the 20th century, many of them from the 1940s and 1950s, have been passing from one generation to the next. Given the difficulty of importing cars and spare components to Cuba, their owners have had to be creative and do their best (and sometimes even the impossible) to keep them running, making Havana look like a great automobile museum, always on the move.*

>*Estos autos de la primera mitad del siglo XX, muchos de ellos son de las décadas de 1940 y 1950, han ido pasando de una generación a otra. Ante la dificultad de importar autos y piezas de repuesto hacia cuba, sus dueños han tenido que ser creativos, y hacer lo posible (y hasta lo imposible a veces) por mantenerlos en funcionamiento, por lo que La Habana parece un gran museo automovilístico, siempre en continuo movimiento.* 

*These cars are characterised by being strong, resistant, spacious, and many still maintain their original splendour, thanks to the care with which they are treated. For foreigners who visit the island it is quite an event to be able to see so many old cars driving around the city, that is why they like to ride in them so much, it is common to see groups of tourists riding in "almendrones" (that is how we call these cars in Cuba) driving along the main avenues and taking pictures of the life of the city, since many of their owners offer tourist tours. Currently, most of these cars are used as taxis or rental cars.*

>*Estos autos se caracterizan por ser fuertes, resistentes, amplios, y muchos aún mantienen su esplendor original, gracias al cuidado con el que son tratados. Para los extranjeros que visitan la isla es todo un suceso poder ver tantos autos antiguos rodando por la ciudad, por eso es que les gusta tanto pasear en ellos, es habitual ver a grupos de turistas montados en “almendrones” (así llamamos en Cuba a estos automóviles) paseando por las principales avenidas y tomando fotografías de la vida de la ciudad, ya que muchos de sus dueños ofrecen recorridos turísticos. Actualmente la mayoría de estos autos realizan función de taxis o carros de alquiler.*


*In the streets it is common to see Cubans making all kinds of gestures to these taxis jeje 👈👉👆✌. This kind of language without words is established without the need for the taxi to stop, and it is necessary if we want to know the route of the taxi, because in Cuba it is customary that taxis do not go where the customer needs, but the other way around, customers go where the taxi is going, so this mode of communication is necessary to avoid wrong trips!*

>*En las calles es común ver a los cubanos haciéndole todo tipo de señas a estos taxis jeje 👈👉👆✌. Este tipo de lenguaje sin palabra se establece sin necesidad de que el taxi tenga que detenerse, y es necesario si queremos conocer el recorrido del taxi, ya que en Cuba es costumbre que los taxis no vaya hacia donde necesite el cliente, sino al revés, los clientes van hacia donde se dirige el taxi, ¡así que este modo de comunicación es necesario para evitar viajes equivocados!*
