Photography has always been a whip with human reality, we have come to capture moments that leave us with the naked soul and makes us see the best and the worst of our nature. Since I started I had never had the opportunity to have a camera in my hands 24 hours a day, but thank God today I have it, I had never had the opportunity to capture everyday life. This photo I think is if not my best photo is one of them. After a long day of work, when I arrived in my neighborhood I noticed the usual blackout, it had been a few hours. I as always before entering my house I sit a while with the neighbors and more in these times of low light that all go out to the sidewalks to at least talk about their little luck and count how many are left. My neighbor Pedro, now of an advanced age, is a person who has been left alone in this life, his relatives who once lived beside him, sold his house so that his youngest son could emigrate from the United States and bought a smaller one far away from him. This in the long run would bring him immense loneliness and deep sadness. Peter that day sat in his craze listening to our conversations when I saw him notice his face down and off, he has a very powerful flashlight, I think it’s the best in the neighborhood and I had it located in a way that illuminated it and took my camera and I could take 3 pictures before I could notice my intention. When I saw the picture I met the real Peter, one who can’t take it anymore, one disappointed, tired, spoiled 😢. I feel very sorry for the elderly in my society, they are like helpless children, but unlike children, they know the reality and know that their future is no longer an advantage, rather their enemy, and it is not easy to live without hope. La fotografía siempre ha sido un látigo con la realidad humana, hemos llegado a captar momentos que nos dejan con el alma desnuda y nos hace ver lo mejor y lo peor de nuestra naturaleza. Desde que comencé nunca había tenido la oportunidad de tener una cámara en mis manos las 24 horas del día, pero gracias a Dios hoy la tengo, nunca había tenido la oportunidad de captar la vida cotidiana. Esta foto creo que es si no mi mejor foto es una de ellas. Luego de un largo día de trabajo, al llegar a mi barrio me doy cuenta del apagón habitual, ya llevaba algunas horas. Yo como siempre antes de entrar a mi casa me siento un rato con los vecinos y más en estos tiempos de poca luz que todos salen a las aceras a por lo menos hablar de su poca suerte y contar cuantos van quedando. Mi vecino Pedro, ya de una edad avanzada, es una persona que se ha quedado sola en esta vida, sus familiares que antes vivían a su lado, vendieron su casa para que su hijo menor pudiera emigrar a EUA y compraron otra más pequeña muy lejos de él. Esto a largo plazo le traería una inmensa soledad y una profunda tristeza. Pedro ese día se sentó en su quicio a escuchar nuestras conversaciones cuando lo vi note su rostro caído y apagado, él tiene una linterna muy potente, creo que es la mejor del barrio y la tenía ubicada de una manera que lo iluminaba y saque mi cámara y le pude hacer 3 fotos antes que pudiera notar mi intención. Al ver la foto conocí al verdadero Pedro, uno que no puede más, uno decepcionado, cansado, estropeado 😢. A mí me da mucha pena con los ancianos de mi sociedad, ellos son como niños indefensos, pero a diferencia de los niños, ellos conocen la realidad y sabe que su futuro ya no es una ventaja, más bien su enemigo y no es fácil vivir sin esperanza.
