I saw a tweet on (X) Twitter from a guy who said he was tired of life and was going to end it all. He also uploaded a picture alongside this tweet, and I noticed something on his face that made me think he had been crying; despite the fact that the photo was taken from a decent apartment, he appeared healthy and calm. I checked his previous tweets, and there was no history of angst or anything indicating he was depressed.

> On Most Social Space, You Only See What Others Want You To

Do not get me wrong: these observations do not tell the entire story. When it comes to the social space, people only show you what they want you to see, and you can not tell the truth about their situation by reading what they have written or studying their facial expression.

I noticed that more than half of the responses he received asked him to give them his belongings, which included chairs, clothes, and anything else that made him comfortable.

Others mocked him, claiming he was too attractive and healthy to be considering suicide. There were a few sensitive tweets from people who probably cared if he was genuine, while others prayed for him and asked him to reconsider. I also noticed that this was the one tweet he received the most impressions on (as far as I could tell), and everything I saw made it difficult to determine whether this guy was serious or joking.

Whether he was joking or not, I would still leave him a word of encouragement, especially if he turned out to be serious. It was better that it was fake and he did not commit suicide than that it was real and people ignored him. However, I believe that anything is possible in the social space.

### X is The New Farmland

People now upload nude and suggestive photos to get impressions, and they engage in farming schemes, fake giveaways, and other forms of monetization. I believe Elon Musk is aware of this; he has previously spoken about stopping farming schemes and banning accounts that engage in this behavior, but to be honest, X has become a haven for more and more fakery and aggrandizing content in order to make money.

Every day, I see tweets of people talking and sharing sex pictures, leaking DMs of sexual activities, and saying all kinds of things. We have more accounts that want to serve people sexual content, and these guys farm millions of impressions, including sex sells, scandals and aggrandizement, politics, LGBTQ stuff, and more sex stuffs. For someone who is primarily interested in cryptocurrency content, I see more sex content.

> It's Like A Reddit Orgy

People discuss their favorite sexual positions and various forms of perversion. It feels like a Reddit 18+ room. I would not be surprised if that guy tweeted that for content purposes, people will do anything for money and draw no boundaries. We have people who fake their deaths to prolong their fate; in the last six years, we have seen two or more Nigerian celebrities fake their deaths in order to resurrect their careers, only for the media to discover it was all a hoax.

It is likely that these pranks and jokes lead people to underestimate those who are truly depressed or suicidal. Because we know we can do anything to be relevant or make money, people are unsure about what is real and what is not.

  > Way To Go Elon

***You built your dream social media***

Elon Musk's monetization pattern and style have exacerbated these human opportunistic tendencies for money, fame, and relevance, which is the reality of the new web2. I have been depressed, and to be honest, the internet and web2 are not the places to discuss it. People use things like this as a publicity stunt to promote a movie, a song, or even gain followers for their accounts.

## Web2 Is Not A Place To Talk Depression

I used to be very active on web2, but at the start of my depressive episodes, I stayed away for seven months, and it is probably one of the worst places to talk about depression and suicide.

The space is saturated with depression-related posts and videos looking to make money, which is another advantage of a site like Hive. You do not need to talk about depression to make a few bucks; in fact, being honest about your life is preferable, because there is no way to lie on the chain without getting caught.
