*In this video,* I talk with the infamous Charlie Shrem about his ambitions for success and rising above the victimhood mentality.

Charlie Shrem was sentenced to 2 years in prison in December 2014, but was released after a still lengthy amount of time in June 2016 for "aiding and abetting the operation of an unlicensed money transmitting business associated with the Silk Road." BitInstant was the name of the business. Shrem was just 22 when it launched as well as when he co-founded the Bitcoin Foundation.

After prison, Shrem worked as a dishwasher after he lost nearly everything. Still, instead of looking in the rear view mirror, he looked to the future and gained great success once again.

Though he deals with legal issues regularly as he is still on probation, he carries a very positive vibe with him as he explains in the video the importance of setting negativity aside.

He also talks about the culture of dependency we see among a lot of young people *(as well as old)* where the victim mentality takes hold and instead of striving for success, people despise those who are successful expecting things to be handed to them.

Shrem then goes into the recent MASSIVE crypto dip, focusing on Bitcoin which saw at one point a *14%* drop in one day on the 14th of November, 2018. Interestingly, the volatility despite scaring some people brings great opportunity after months of trading sideways. We clearly hadn't seen the bottom.

Finally, Shrem explains why Bitcoin will be king going forward and that one no longer needs to explain the obvious when it comes to Bitcoin's future. He compares the subjectivity of value to that of gold.
