# Bitcoin is currently trading 95% below "Dickline"

Back in 2017, everyone and their dog was throwing out crazy price predictions for ol bitcoin.

None of them was crazier than John McAfee's though.

Back in July of 2017, when bitcoin was around $3k per coin, McAfee made his now infamous tweet where he claimed that bitcoin would hit $500k by the end of 2020.

And if not, he would eat his own dick on national television.

# Bitcoin just kept going up...

Shortly after McAfee made his price prediction/bet, bitcoin kept climbing and climbing and climbing.

This bullish price action caused Mr. McAfee to adjust his price prediction upwards while keeping the same timeline.

Saying:

> "When I predicted Bitcoin at $500,000 by the end of 2020, it used a model that predicted $5,000 at the end of 2017. BTC has accelerated much faster than my model assumptions. I now predict Bircoin at $1 million by the end of 2020. I will still eat my dick if wrong."

This lead to the now much quoted McAfee $1 million bitcoin bet.

And as he mentioned, if it doesn't happen, he will still eat his manhood on national television.

Unfortunately for him, the current price is 95% below where it needs to be for him to win his bet:

The price should be around $170k per coin for it to be on trend to hit his target by the end of the year.

# This is not good news for him, or for anyone else for that matter...

I don't know about you, but I don't want to see what happens when he loses his bet.

I think if he would have stuck with his $500k call and moved the timeline to 2025 instead of 2020, I think he might have had a chance to be right.

But as we all know, if he had done that he wouldn't be getting nearly as much press coverage as is now, which was probably the point all along. :)
