In a surprising turn of events from where things stood yesterday and early this morning, it is now looking like the steem community will take back control of the steem blockchain.

The community now currently has 4 of the Top 20 Witness spots:

That is a very big deal as it prevents Justin Sun and Tron from initiating a hard fork that perhaps the community doesn't approve of.

They must have 17 of 20 witnesses support the hard fork and that may be impossible now that the community has taken 4 spots back.

# What's more...

Since there is such a small amount of vests separating the #1 spot from the #20 spot, it is starting to look like the steem community will take back all 20 spots in the near future.

The ball is now back in Justin's court.

Keep in mind that he can just go out into the market and buy up more steem and power it up if he wishes to keep his guys in.

He certainly has the resources for that.

However, I think people fighting over steem to get their witnesses voted in is a good problem to have! :)
