<center>**I have been trying for a long time to read a book that its complete reading is already taking a few months. I speak of the book "Christianity, Pure and Simple," written by C. Lewis, the same author of "Lord of the Rings".**</center>


<center>This book is one of many where Lewis addresses his vision of Christianity and some dogmatic discussions surrounding it. A book for sure that I recommend to everyone.</center> 

<center>Good. I was reading yesterday a chapter that caught my attention and it will be the subject of this brief written here today in my virtual space in Steemit.</center>

<center>In one of Lewis's arguments about the onset of evil, comes his reflection that evil entered our humanity from the ego. The ego was the primary requirement that, as the Bible in the book of Genesis relates, our first parents, Adam and Eve, were cast out of paradise.</center>

<center>The expulsion of Adam and Eve from Eden was not because of sexual relations between them, or because they had "eaten the forbidden fruit," as some authors speak and tell throughout the history, but rather the desire of the human being to want to be the  "God of his life", to want to be creator instead of creature, the center of the universe.</center>

<center>This is where the ego acts. The ego is the cause of many of the misfortunes that we have been living in the human race since Adam and Eve.</center>

<center>According to Lewis, this desire of the human being to prove / want / desire and truly believe that he is God has led us to the various disastrous and self-destructive consequences in the human history.</center> 

<center>The ego, that impulse and feeling of stupid self-confidence, of putting in the head that "we do not depend on anything and nobody" to achieve our goals. That thought that we are self-sufficient can lead us to an ever deeper hole with no way back.</center>

<center>We are all part of a "gear". One gear (individual) complements the other (another individual), one element completes the other. That's what physics, chemistry, and biology teaches us and proves us very well.</center>

<center>Lack for us human beings in our postmodern age, where we are increasingly self-sufficient, more humility. We need every day to put ourselves in our place and render thanks to the one who created us.</center> 

<center>**From there, perhaps, we will have that peace and happiness so desired. The exercise from today and is always to control that ego. We control this "beast" or it devours us.**</center>
