On September 19, the first cross-chain atomic swap was made between [Litecoin and Decred](https://blog.decred.org/2017/09/20/On-Chain-Atomic-Swaps/). The link will take you to a publication where you can learn more about this technology. But basically what happened yesterday will allow that wherever Bitcoin is accepted as payment you can also use Litecoin to pay. A truly decentralized exchange without the need for an intermediary.
