The human brain is very powerful. It can make one believe that they are beyond learning or that they aren't worth anything.

However one of the tricks it can play is lie to you and this post is going to talk about how to avoid it dont that.

Life is a balance. Ying and Yang. Dark and light.

Over confidence becomes arrogance. Looking to improve becomes self criticism.

Going too far either way might not be the best thing for you.

Consider this example. Someone starts out on Steemit. They start to do well. They attribute their success to the actions they have taken. They think that one can only become a success by doing the same actions. They dismiss and minimise other types of people who aren't like them, judging that they can't possibly be a success as they are different.

Now this person might still well be a success on Steemit. They might go on to bigger and better things. Good for them.

But could they be missing out? Missing out on a different angle or experience?

At the end of the day. Nothing is right and nothing is wrong. Events are just things that happen and it is only the meanings we give to those events that make them so.

Another example could be the other way. Someone stars out on Steemit. They don't do so well. They are following the actions of the succesful person but it isn't working for them. They think they can't be a success on Steemit then they think they can't be a success on anything.

The brain lies to you. It does this to keep you safe. Or that is what it is designed to do. Unfortunately some of the mechanics aren't exactly helpful.

So my idea to stay grounded is to take 30 seconds out. Think about something you believe strongly. Then put your mind to how you might look at things if you took the completely opposite view.

Do you think certain types of people can never teach you anything? Try to imagine what could you learn from them

Do you think that you can't do something? Think about what action you would take if you knew you could do it.
