Success is not only about going into the world, working hard, and making it. It’s a journey where you leave your comfort zone, make mistakes, get back on your feet, and make progress. Success is about setting goals, working towards them, and overcoming obstacles. The first step to achieving success is to accept the fact that it doesn’t come easy. Well, unless you were born with a silver spoon, the journey to success City is a pretty difficult one. The journey to success city is not the same for everyone. Different paths lead to success city. The rich, big, and famous people we see today didn’t just get there in a day. Elon Musk didn’t just wake up one morning and become one of the richest people. Cristiano Ronaldo, the most famous footballer and one of the richest athletes did not just wake up one morning and start breaking records. Success is a gradual step. A journey you have to take steadily. Now, here’s a big question; when it comes to success should we prioritize monetary gain or knowledge? Okay, how about I break it down for easy understanding? When it comes to success (chasing the bag), should we prioritize the bag (making it big) over our quest for knowledge (education.) Do you think dropping out of school to start a business is a bad idea? Some of the most famous and rich people we know today are school dropouts. I’m pretty sure everyone knows Mark Zuckerberg- the CEO of Facebook. I was surprised when I found out that he also dropped out of the University of Harvard to follow his dreams. Is this proof that education is not one of the criteria for achieving success? “Education is a scam.” Sometimes, I sit down and think about this phrase. Is education truly a scam? Are people wasting their precious time going to school, cramming, reading, taking tests, writing exams, and racking their brains all for a certificate? Wouldn’t it be better to just chase your dream instead of “wasting” your time in school? Well, if your dream isn’t to go to school and bag certificates, wouldn’t it just be better to chase that dream instead of wasting your time in school? I’ve thought about this thing well and I have come to a conclusion that the misting important factor to consider when contemplating this subject is one’s country. If you’re living in a developed country where it is rest assured that a job is waiting for you after graduation, then you probably shouldn’t drop out just so you would chase the bag. However, if you live in a developing or underdeveloped country, you should worry. Here’s an analogy I always tell people: life is like a football game. If you’re a citizen of an underdeveloped or developing country, you’re already 1 goal down. If you were born into a poor or middle-class family, you are now two goals down. Now, if you’re not wise, you’re 10 goals down. Here in my country, people say education is a scam because of the high rate of unemployment. What’s the use of spending years in school and ending up as a jobless person? Not only do people see it as a waste of time, but also a waste of resources. Do you know the cost of education in Nigeria? If you should calculate the money spent on a child from Elementary school, to high school, then to university, do you think that money isn’t enough to do something profitable? Wouldn’t it be better to start up a business instead of going to school? Thousands of youth today are jobless and are walking around with their certificates! Do not quote me wrong, I am not saying education is a scam. Yes, education is not a scam. However, it is best we apply wisdom in all our steps in life. Yes! Education is not a scam, but here’s what I think- a part of you shouldn’t suffer because of the other. You do not know what the future holds. My advice for those thinking of dropping out of school to chase the back is that they shouldn’t. Don’t drop out of school, instead, stay focused on your education and at the same time work on your dreams. If your dream is to start up a business, why not start planning now? The best step to take isn’t to wait till you graduate from school, start now! If you think becoming a writer would be best for you, nothing is stopping you from starting now! You can plan your life while in school. Do not drop out of school, the best step to take is to have a backup plan. Focus on your education and also work on your backup plan. If education doesn’t work out, your plan B comes into action. Thanks for reading. </div> Posted Using [InLeo Alpha](https://inleo.io/@justfavour/chase-the-bag-or-chase-the-book-)
