I like to think that life is a game. In my opinion and according to the little voice in my head, life is like a game of chess filled with strategies, predictions, twists, and turns. Chess is my favorite board game. It is also my favorite hobby. One thing about chess is that it improves your thinking abilities and teaches you how to make calculated moves. Just like in chess, in life, one has to make calculated moves. Life has an interesting way of pulling its strings and sometimes we find ourselves in situations where we have to make sacrifices and calculated moves.

Today, I’ll share in this post an analogy that has been guiding me for years now. As I mentioned above, life is a game. Whatever game you want it to be. The world is the arena, and life is your opponent. I know it sounds complicated, but read carefully and I’m sure you’ll see through my point. If you were born into an underdeveloped country, life is leading you with a goal. Now, if you were born into a poor background, life is leading you with two goals. To worsen the case, if you’re dumb/not ready to make calculated moves, then life is leading you with 50 (or more) goals.

Luckily for some people, they were born into wealthy families and in developed countries, but for us weren’t born with these opportunities, but what makes us stand out is that we are ready to make calculated moves. We are strong and will always hustle till we get the bag. One thing I love about my fellow Nigerians on Hive is that we are hustlers. The hustling spirit is in us and that is why we will always shine. Some of us weren’t born with a silver spoon, and that is why we go to extra lengths to chase the bag. We hustle from dusk to dawn, take on multiple jobs, just name it.

In this post, I’ll share with you the jobs I did before I discovered Hive.

I’m a smart kid. I’ve always been a smart person. I was raised by good parents in a beautiful home. The importance of hard work cannot be underestimated, and I’m glad I’ve known this secret since I was a kid. Taking a short trip down memory lane, I’ve had some job experiences before discovering Hive blockchain. Those experiences are really valuable and important because they opened my eyes to the outside world. Here are some of the jobs I did before discovering Hive blockchain.

**I HAVE WORKED AS A TEACHER**

I've written about my experiences as a teacher on HIVE quite a few times. It was my first-ever job, and undoubtedly the worst job I've ever had. If I had the opportunity to go back in time, I’m sure I’d definitely avoid teaching. Don’t quote me wrong, I did learn lots of things as a teacher. It shaped my life, but here in my country, teachers are not valued. My experiences as a teacher is proof of how teachers are treated badly in my country. Shortly after I graduated from high school, I got a job in an elementary school. At that time, the school required teachers. Luckily (or unluckily), I applied for the job and got it. I worked in the school for three months without receiving a dime. After the third month, I resigned. Although I had ugly experiences, those experiences opened my eyes to a few things.

**I HAVE WORKED AS A SECRETARY IN A GYM**

Unlike the teaching job, I had fun working as a secretary in a gym. The memories I made here will always live rent-free in my head. I was lucky enough to work under a very kind boss. My boss didn’t treat me like a mere employer, he treated me like he would treat his sibling. I also had fun interacting with the customers. This greatly improved my social communication skills.

I remember the one time I tried working out. I wanted to log heavy stuff like others. Although I did lift weights, I couldn’t use my hands well the next day and I vowed not to ever go close to weights ever again.

**I HAVE WORKED AS A SECRETARY IN A SALOON**

Shortly before I gained admission into the university, I got a job as a secretary in a saloon. I was mostly in charge of finance and the general welfare of the saloon, so I didn’t get to learn how to barb. Overall, I had fun and learnt so many things working as the secretary. Considering the type of work and the environment, the pay wasn’t so bad.

In conclusion, I’m glad that I discovered the ways of life early and started working hard. Hard work is golden. Putting effort, consistency, dedication, and commitment can lead to incredible growth and achievements.

Thanks for reading.
