My "Introduce Yourself" Post

My name is Julia Crawford, and I'm currently studying for a career in IT. Technology has always been one of my biggest interests throughout my life, and it all started with gaming consoles.

Back when I was a little tot, I'd spend hours sitting in front of a little tv with a Playstation 1 hooked up to it simply exploring what the games from that time had to offer as entertainment. As the years went on, my fascination with gaming never really wore off. I was fortunate enough to own a handful of consoles and to experience some of the most prominant titles each had to offer.

The stories and colourful animation of the gaming world stimulated my creativity when I was younger, and it was apparent in my drawings. Soon that abundance of creativity spilled over into my schoolwork. I started writing some of the most entertaining essays in my class. The motivation my teachers gave me sparked an endless sense of inspiration inside of me. I loved creating my own little worlds with my own characters so much that it became like an escape for me.

A few years passed, and the reality of teenage life struck down my enthusiasm. Anxiety, stress, depression... My childlike sense of creativity slowly dimmed down as I focused more on academic achievements. Once again, I turned to gaming and writing to cope with my feelings.

Forming relationships isn't one of my strongest characteristics. I had a few friends here and there, but the friendly relationship always faded into the background. There was always someone more popular or better looking than me, and I guess that's just a part of life. You can't please everyone. Yet, by some stroke of luck, I've come across some valuable friendships over the years, some of which is still going strong to this day.

Life after highschool is pretty dull, but it's at least it's better in a few ways. There isn't as much pressure on me as there used to be, I don't have to drag my body out of bed early in the morning just to stuff myself into a school uniform and I can actually eat whenever I want instead of starving myself in class while waiting for recess.

Yet, financial stress is one of the most oppressing aspects of adult life. Even though I'm a college student with no financial backbone whatsoever, I'd still like to have an income somewhere, which is why I turned to freelance writing. In some ways I was relatively successful, and in other ways I failed miserably. Perhaps I'll elaborate about that in another post sometime…

Still, I'm glad I've stumbled upon Steemit. It looks like fun platform, and I'm looking forward to making new connections and becoming a part of the community.
