My first kiss is a memory I’ll never forget—not just because it was my first, but because up till now, it’s still my only kiss. It’s one of those moments that sticks with you, not because it was perfect, but because it was real, surprising, and kind of sweet in its own way.

It all happened during my JUPEB program in a private university. I wasn’t exactly the outgoing type when it came to girls. In fact, I harldy ever approached them. Not because I didn’t want to, but because I always felt awkward doing it. But then, there was this girl—fair-skinned, really pretty, and she just had this calm vibe that drew me in from a distance. I kept noticing her around, but I never made a move.

One day, I was chilling with my friend when he handed me his phone to show me something. While scrolling, I came across a picture of her, and then I was like, “Wait, you know this girl?” And to my surprise, he said they both attended the same secondary school. That was my chance. Without wasting time, I asked him to send me her number, and thankfully, he did.

From there, we started talking—nothing serious at first, just regular chats. But she was vibing, and it didn’t feel forced. We had good conversations, and she actually seemed interested. At some point, we decided to meet up in person. Our first face-to-face conversation went pretty well, and it made things feel a bit more real between us. There was no pressure. We laughed, talked about random stuff, and just enjoyed each other’s company.

Later on, during one of our phone games, the topic of relationships came up. I told her i was single, and then I opened up and told her I had never kissed a girl before. At first, she didn't believe me, but  she still didn’t tease me about it. She just took it in, like she was storing it somewhere in her mind.

A few days later, we met again at the same place, which was a college building at school. This time around, she told me to follow her upstairs. I didn’t really know what to expect, but I followed her anyway. And then, out of nowhere, she told me to sit down on a chair whilst she was standing, and she started kissing me passionately. It took me by surprise, and honestly, I wasn’t good at it at all. I could feel her teeth clashing with mine, and it was actually awkward. But even with how rough it was, I was happy. I was finally experiencing something I had only imagined for years.

We kissed for some minutes, but then the kiss was short-lived, though, because just minutes after, we almost got caught. Some school officers were patrolling around, and if we hadn’t quickly adjusted, it would’ve been a completely different story. That fear made my heart race even more than the kiss did. I can't afford to be punished by the school officials just because of a kiss.

But then, after that, things got a little more serious between us. We started dating, and even though the relationship didn’t last forever, that moment—my first kiss—will always be something I remember fondly.
