Diablo 4... beware if you have a Gigabyte 3080ti graphics card

Diablo 4 hit early access today for those who bought the Deluxe or Ultimate editions of the game and for the first time ever โ€” or so it seems โ€” the game launched at a *decent time* for my timezone. 9 in the morning.

Normally game launches are at around 1am my time and I am fast asleep. xD Which is normally a good thing because by the time I'm awake, the game has sorted out immediate launch issues and queues and I can dive right in.

With dim hopes that Blizzard had learnt something from the beta and their server stress tests (unlikely) I prepared myself with snacks and drinks and got comfortable, ready for a day of gaming.

It all started well. I was in a queue with a measly 3 minutes on the clock, made my character then jumped straight into the action!

Nope. Not Hardcore because I'm not a masochist.

Anyway.

I was an hour into my character. I had just finished a random world event, only to see a treasure goblin pop up on the minimap. Excited, I chased after it!!! I even took a screenshot, hoping to share my glory with you all once I wrote a glowing experience about my first day in this game.

Alas I didn't have a glowing experience in this first day of the game.

My monitor went black. My fans flew all the way to 50,000% jet engine speed. A burnt electrical smell wafted from my case. Diablo 4 bricked my graphics card.

Apparently there was a known issue during the beta a couple of months ago where there were instances of the game destroying 3080ti graphics cards, but I had no problem at the time.

And now, now that the game has officially launched (for Deluxe/Ultimate edition gamers), my graphics card is dead.

Thanks, Blizzard.

Thanks.
