# After watching an old interview from British TV where a church pastor tells John Cleese his film is "tenth rate," and an insult to the true "gospel story" of christianity, I had to watch myself.

**Cleese and his co-creators maintained that the film was designed to make people laugh, think, and to poke fun at religion and blind followers of such belief systems.**



**After watching, I can confidently say that in my opinion, it is one of the most brilliant films ever made.**

**Let's examine how the film, released in 1979, seemed to uncannily predict the raging "scandalous" debates that are dividing the MSM/Facebook-false-dichotomy-bi-partisan consumer society even now in 2018.**

I was blown away when this scene came up in the film. Who could have guessed that the societal division and political correctness the actors are poking fun at in this scene would end up inflated to the proportions they are today.
