My sister gave birth to a baby girl last week. We were all happy and excited but recently we realized that the baby has jaundice and now we are worried.

When a baby is born it is very natural that they will show symptoms of jaundice by day 2 or 3 but after that in most of the cases it goes away.

In the case of our baby it didn't go away and so today we went to the doctor who is a really experienced doctor and a child specialist. 

I know him personally as I have always consulted him for my son Ali as well. So, we went their to his clinic and he examined the baby.

He told us that we should immediately take the baby to a nursing home or a hospital where the baby will be given the Phototherapy.

Let me tell everyone a little about the phototherapy. Phototherapy is a process where the baby's skin is exposed to blue fluorescent light.

It helps in reducing the jaundice and bringing it down to a particular level from where the baby's body can heal on its own.

New born can't given antibiotics and that is why this therapy is often used for the new born kids only and not in the case of adults.

So, he said that we should get her Jaundice test immediately and he told us that the levels will definitely be between 15-20 which is quite high.

We are already in the hospital and our doctor was right, the jaundice level was 18.5 which is really high and now she is admitted in the hospital.

The doctors are giving her Phototherapy and the baby will stay in observation for 1-3 days depending upon the jaundice level.

May god heal my little girl soon and bless her with health. By this blog I will also request people to take care of their kids.

When you first become a mother make sure to keep an eye on your baby. Note her body movement and reach the doctors if they are not usual.

Sometimes the baby don't get enough milk or sometimes the baby fails to suck it properly and in either of the cases you should reach the doctors.

Educate yourself as a mother as it is your responsibility to do so. When a new life is born it brings happiness as well as responsibilities on us.

Regular check ups are very important as well. These routine check ups help in monitoring baby weight and growth by the specialists.
