They need to be able to listen to people, and make decisions off of the facts. They need to be clear in what they are saying, and not sound uneasy when making a final decision on a matter, in order to be taken seriously. Judges and hearing officers need to be dressed professionally. Since they’re dealing with legal matters, they must be taken seriously and respectfully. This may mean a long-sleeved suit (for both men and women) or a robe. While they need to be dressed professionally, they must also wear something comfortable because they may be in one position for a very long period of time.
