I am in Dehradun a lot these days as I have begun a new venture in the agriculture space. So I am often traveling to my farms. Without any salary, I am forced to live on a tight budget and often that means packaged noodles. Not satisfying at all. 

One day I was going from one meeting to another and it was lunch time. While driving, I suddenly noticed a small restaurant with standing tables and lots of people standing outside. I asked my business partner if he wanted to eat there and he agreed to try it out. He is fussy eater so going to extremely budget places with him is not easy.

When I reached Khopche, I could see people enjoying red kidney beans curry and rice (*an absolute favourite of mine*) and chickpea curry and rice. Plates looked super clean and the aroma was great. My friend and I saw the menu and everything looked super cheap. I straightaway ordered Rajma Chawal (red bean .... rice) and my friend ordered Chicken Kathi roll. We weren't sure how big the portion sizes would be, plus we were famished, so we ordered vegetable noodles as well to share. I also ordered tea for myself. 

The food came one by one and both of us were blown away. 

**Rajma Chawal**

*Now when something like this costs INR 30, one expects cheaper version of rice, little beans and mostly watery curry. However, what is beautiful about this dish is that rice is premium Basmati, there is shitloads of beans in it and the curry is super thick. This was beautiful and we lapped it up like a cat laps up milk.*

**Chicken Kathi Roll**

*Again, I have had Kathi rolls for INR 100, INR 200 and the bread is white flour, it's super oily and unhealthy but this one - The flatbread was wholewheat, it wasn't pan fried, there was a layer of egg inside and the portion of chicken inside was substantial. I think it was worth INR 60 and the taste was spectacular.*

**Vegetable Noodles**

*The noodles looked absolutely appetizing and had loads of veggies. It was a little too oily and that was the only miss.*

**Tea**

*Strongly brewed, mildly sweet, really refreshing.*

The bill was may be around INR 200. It was too cheap and we couldn't believe how the place was managing to stay afloat. We went there once again to try Chicken Fried rice, Chickpea curry and Rice and dumplings. For the food, I am going to give this place a 4.9 on a scale of 1 to 5, 5 being best. 

I think this place will soon become expensive and is rightly suited to be a chain. I encourage people in DDN to visit this place while it is still affordable. You will absolutely love it.
