When i was in school, I would frequent KC Soup bar every day for a plate of Mutton momos. KC, as it was popularly known, back then and even today, was a tiny food stall at that point. A shack next to a busy road, it has 2 tables under a tree and cars and bikes would be parked around it, with people enjoying dumplings, soup and noodles. Today KC is a big ass restaurant and while a lot has changed, the love for it from the locals remains the same. Now you don't have to remain in your car and eat. You can park your car outside KC and sit inside the restaurant, albeit still on cheap plastic chairs. The place does not take reservations. You stop, have a look around and if you see an empty table, you walk towards it and sit down. The menu offers steamed and fried momos (tibetan dumplings) vegetarian and mutton. noodles, soup, noodle soup called thupka and I think that's about it. I went there with two other people on Tuesday and we ordered half mutton momos, 1 vegetarian momos, one fried mutton momos, chicken soup, and chicken noodles. The food comes quickly. Back in the old days, momos were put on a plate with some kind of red sauce and onion. Today, momos are served inside a dumpling basket. Chicken soup - It chicken broth thickened with corn flour. Chicken Noodles - Basic white flour noodles with diced chicken sprinkled on top. Momos - The dough is quite thin and what I also like is that the mutton is fatty and that fat becomes soupy after momos are steamed. Be careful when taking a bite, the liquid fat will drip on your fingers. Vegetarian momos are filled with thinky diced, boiled cabbage. The food is comforting. The weather was a littke cold in the evening, so hot food felt good. As I mentioned, the mutton fat and thin lining of dough make the momos taste great. The noodles are not exceptional, you can easily get them on any street stall. The soup and noodles are made as per some secret recipe that is only available with stree stall operators. as long as you not looking for something fancy, KC food will not disappoint. Hygiene isn't great. Food, plates are all clean. Waiting staff also looks presentable. however, since the restaurant is still located next to a busy road, sitting close to the road side will mean, your table may not look and feel clean. Or it could juat be old plastic chairs and tables. One can laze around for as long as one wants. We paid 500 INR for the food, approx 165 pp, $2.5 each. Not bad I think. It is afterall a place that can be easily frequented by poor school going students. 4 on 5 for the place and the food. They can easily make a few changes to get a better rating and also add chicken dumplings on the menu. Scale is 1 to 5, 5 being --------------------- ### Restaurant Information
K.C Soup Bar [Rajpur Rd, Jakhan, Dehradun, Uttarakhand 248195, India](https://tasteem.io/post/44215#map) -----------------------------------------
[KC soup bar - The go to place for cheap Tibetan food](https://tasteem.io/post/44215) This post participated in the Tasteem contest [Local Dishes](https://tasteem.io/event/646)
[What is Tasteem?](https://tasteem.io/about) [](https://tasteem.io)
