Tuesday night, after finishing a hectic day, my friend and I wanted to eat some rich, hard core North Indian food, and we wanted value. We decided to visit Moti Mahal near Clock tower, Dehradun. Again, a very old restaurant, one that has existed for eons in my opinion. There was a time, when the place looked very run down but has since been renovated to attract quality seeking customers, those who are also price conscious. We didn't make any reservations. The restaurants does take reservations but there is no need. The city has seen a rapid increase in eating joints and such old school places aren't super busy these days. When we went, the place had ample seating space available. The menu is Punjabi food. There is Chinese and Continental food also, for those in the mood for something different. Here is a list of items available - My friend and I kept things simple, we knew what we had to order. We ordered one big pot of boneless butter chicken, 2 naan breads and 3 plain tandoori rotis. For drinks we ordered Sweet and Salty fresh line soda - that's indian lemonade. The chicken was tender, and we were given clean cuts. The gravy was beautifully rich with none of the sweet undertones of cream. We managed to finish a lot of the chicken but not all of it. Fresh Lime soda wasn't excessively sweet either. very well made. The waiting staff was attentive. They were quick to ask us for more bread and at clearing up the table after we were done. Finger bowls were given at the table to clean our hands. The bill was 90p INR, about £10 for 2. Not at all expensive for the amount of food and quality. Payment was accepted in cash and card. I'll give the place 4.5 and butter chicken a full 5. Scale is 1 to 5, 5 being best. The decor can use a bit of uplift in my opinion. --------------------- ### Restaurant Information
Moti Mahal [7, Rajpur Rd, Ghanta Ghar, Karanpur, Dehradun, Uttarakhand 248001, India](https://tasteem.io/post/44211#map) -----------------------------------------
[Moti Mahal and it's butter chicken review - making people lick their finger for decades](https://tasteem.io/post/44211) This post participated in the Tasteem contest [Local Dishes](https://tasteem.io/event/646)
[What is Tasteem?](https://tasteem.io/about) [](https://tasteem.io)
