Thinking About Money..

Do you know that we can fit the entire human race into New York City? If we make it a shoulder-to-shoulder affair, all of humanity would fit into a cube with equal sides of 1.1 kilometer (as depicted). Compare it to planet Earth's 1 trillion cubic kilometer volume - we are very small indeed.

Makes you think about money and scarcity. Abundance and post-scarcity reality seems like something achievable within the turn of the next few decades. I don't want to stretch it, but Steem seems like it's going to play a role in driving that change.

Is a cryptocurrency like Steem a precursor to post-scarcity wonders? If the many currencies that we use today are different abstractions of social values, what if its possible to engineer a social currency that over time, transforms into something that renders the very concept of money obsolete?

What am I even talking about?
