Hi fellow gamer and investors. Today I want to show you, how to build an effective formation with Kelya as summoner. It can be played with low rental cost even by new players. Up to now I could only test it in Bronze I and II, since I do not have the CP yet for Silver League. I play the formation with an level one summoner. ## The idea behind the formation When I started Splinterlands about 2 weeks ago I mainly played the fire Splinter, mainly because I had kind of an idea how to play it from the tutorial. I won a few battles, but most of the time I lost to two kind of formations. 1. Kelya, because I could not hit a damn thing (high speed and armored) 2. Magic based formations, mainly Earth Splinter with Obsidian as summoner To play in Bronze II, I already had rented the ***Scorched Splinter*** and ***Torrent Splinter***. These legendary cards are not to expensive to rent and help in nearly every battle, because you can squeeze them in as a shield against cards with ***opportunity*** or ***sneak***. I liked the Speed and Armor buff of Kelya and so decided to build a deck around her. In order to improve against armored and speedy decks I wanted to use magic attacks myself. In addition I searched for Void to soak up some of the magic damage I took from Obsidian, Kelya and Thaddius formations. ## Which cards to rent in the start The first card I found was ***Djinn Oshannus. ***
Source: Splinterlands.com
He became the cornerstone of my formations. At first I played him in first position, because he is already a very good tank. In the meantime, depending on the mana amount I put a small tank upfront like ***Hardy Stonefish*** or ***Xenith Monk***. In higher mana battles ***Diemonshark*** and or ***Serpent of Eld*** does a good job. For the start ***Torrent Fiend*** and ***Djinn Oshannus*** are all cards I would rent. With these cards you should already march through Bronze II. The cost for these cards is currently less than 6 DEC (2,4 cents) per Day. ## Which cards combine well? The most important partner of the Djinn is ***Deep Lurker***. While the Djinn soaks up damage and slowly kills the tank, Deep Lurker takes care of the soft targets. In addition he can take quite some damage with his 6 Health. For an 18 Mana battle you can play: Summoner Kelya #1 Torrent Fiend #2 Djinn Oshannus #3 Deep Lurker Further good hitting additions for free are ***Ice Pixie*** and ***Feasting Seaweed***. The Pixie will hit the same target as the Djinn, while the Seaweed will help to bring the soft targets down faster. If you have the available mana ***Merdaali Guardian*** can bring more resilience to your formation by healing your tank. ## A standard lineup for 26 mana could look like this: Summoner Kelya ( 4 Mana) #1 Hardy Stonefish (1 Mana) #2 Djinn Oshannus (8 Mana) #3 Torrent Find (0 Mana) #4 Merdaali Guardian (3 Mana) #5 Feasting Seaweed (4 Mana) #6 Deeplurker (6 Mana) If I need to choose between healing and more "Firepower" I would use the firepower. ## Which additional cards to rent? In order to get to Bronze I i needed to increase my CP to 5.000. I rented some cards for other Splinters, but I rented some water cards as well. The ***Axemaster*** (0.735 DEC per Day) The Axemaster will bring a lot of hitting power. If he fits in, I would exchange him for the Pixie, or the Seaweed. He feels best on position #5. If the battle conditions give blast, it may be good to position him on #4. ***Nerissa Tridawn*** (0.316 DEC per Day) Nerissa brings a lot of punch and health to the table. She is made for **high mana** or for **poison** and **earth quake** battles. ***Wavebrood*** (0.289 DEC per Day) Wavebrood is expensive for his damage. In high mana battles he can **soak up damage*** from the real hitters. I am using him seldomly. Sometimes in **Earth Quake** or **Poison** battles. Wavebrood has a good cost for his CP which makes him a good rental, even if he is not used in battle. ***Venari Wavesmith*** (0.1 DEC per Day) I play the wavesmith as well very seldomly. Normaly there are better options, but if magic attacks are not to be expected, he strengthens your team and can do some damage. ## Final thoughts By renting these cards you should increase your win rate with the water Splinter tremendosly. The deck has still weaknesses, but I have not found a formation, where it always looses against. At most it has problems with battles in which melee creatures can attack from any spot, or have opportunity or sneak. In these battles Tarsa as summoner shines, and you should not choose Kelya as summoner at all. ## Not playing Splinterlands yet? If you are not playing splinterlands yet, but would like to give it a try, feel free to use my referral link: https://splinterlands.com?ref=kheldar1982. You can play the game for free. If you like the game and want to earn money by playing you need to buy the speelbook. If you do so and used my referral link for signup, please get in touch with me. I will send you some DEC for your first rentals and help you getting into the game. ___ Happy hunting! Yours Kheldar1982 Depending on the battle situation the deck can
