Not so easy to let go
Over here in my hood, one of the easiest ways we use in giving out items from our homes is whenever an announcement is made in church; calling for members to bring items that they've not been using, to give out to orphanages or charity homes. It's very rare to see a thrift store that asks for these items for their business purposes.

So whenever such an announcement is made in church, I make sure I scan through my belongings to see if there's actually any wear, be it shoes, shirts or trousers, to give out. I don't usually have a problem with that because I see it as a way of putting smiles on the faces of people even though I don't know the people that will finally get the items.

There was a particular time such an announcement was made, I got home that day and scanned through my wardrobe as usual and I couldn't see anything except for my lemon shirt  which I haven't been using for a while (say 6 months).

This lemon long sleeve shirt is among our uniforms(dress code) in church and I haven't used it for a while because It became too tight to my body.  Anyday we are to use that particular uniform, I usually appear neutral which generated a lot of complaints by leaders of the group but I didn't just care because I wasn't having money to replace it.

I just kept the shirt in my wardrobe to make me feel that I have the shirt even though I haven't been wearing it and this actually gave me the mindset of not buying a new one because seeing it hang on my wardrobe tells me that I have it.

When I was checking the shirt with a convincing heart to give it out, the shirt appeared totally attractive to me again.

*"This shirt is still new, I can take it to a tailor to loosen it to fit my body again"* I said to myself while rotating it on the hanger. After that, I just decided to follow my instinct. I left it in anger to take it to a tailor the next day.

The next day, which was Monday, I picked the shirt, folded it into a nylon to go meet a tailor in my street and as I was about to leave, a thought knocked me down *"what if the tailor ends up spoiling it considering the fact that the chances of fattening it is slim. If that happens, You won't be able to use it neither will you gift it out"*

It was as if I was being controlled by a remote from another world. I just stood on the spot, with thoughts clashing in my brain.

I sighed and stepped back, sat down and dropped the nylon on the table and I said to myself, *"I'm giving it to church come next Wednesday"*

That was it, I gave it out and my mind was at peace and I know, it was (maybe still) useful to anyone that finally got it.

Thanks for reading.
