you are right! You can do an infinite number of useless forks ...it all depends on how it is going to be used in the future...
I say go with BTC, the original protocol, at least it is less centralized and it has an entire history of mining from the beginning unlike these other forks/clones that actually snatch away mining shares like thieves lol yea... go with bitcoin, it is known by billions of people now... I think bitcoin being the protocol has an authenticity to it that could be used for security and insurance in the future meaning that companies  might as well ask for the equivalence in bitcoin for their activity for its unhackable features... bitcoin doesnt have top figures like Roger Ver that centralize it...again bitcoin is traceable from the first hash and that is transparency as its best so...I don't know ... am not an advisor but these are my honest thoughts
