Exploring Istanbul Day 3 - "Dolmabahçe" Palace, "Fener" District & "Bosphorus" Cruise
**Yo everyone, ready for one more "Exploring Istanbul" travel blog series?**

During my 3rd day there I visited the famous "Dolmabahçe" Palace, walked around the old Greek district "Fener" and cruised around the beautiful waters of Bosphorus. Ready to travel?

### Istanbul Day 3

Same like the previous 2 days, I woke up around 8:00 so I can enjoy my breakfast without having to worry about being late at my meeting with the rest of the travel agency group.

We met up outside the hotel at around 9:30, hopped on the bus and our first stop was the famous **"Dolmabahçe"**, the largest palace in Turkey and home of the last 6 Sultans of the Otoman Empire during 1856-1924.

"Dolmabahçe" Location : [//]:# (!pinmapple 41.040241 lat 29.001704 long d3scr)

This place is unbelievably big. It covers an area of 45,000 m2 and has more than 350 rooms in total! Our guide told us that more than 15,000 kg of gold were used to decorate the palace and the construction lasted for more than 20 years.

Unfortunatelly no photos were allowed on the inside but I did take some photos of the outside garden and I'm sure you'll love them!

*Kiddos on a trip hehe*

"Dolmabahçe" palace was probably the most amazing thing I've seen in my life and I highly recommend you visit this one. Wish I was allowed to take photos of the interior but even if I did you must witness this with your own 2 eyes to really understand how HUGE and imposing this place is.

Staircases made out of gold and crystal, HUGE rooms with amazing architecture and carpets that cost millions of $$?!? Damn this place is really living up to it's name!

After an hour of walking around the palace it was time to go and our next stop was the most historic, at least for us Greeks district of Instanbul called **"Fener"** (or "Fanari" in Greek).

There we visited the **"Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople"** or **"Eastern Orthodox patriarch"** if you prefer and enjoyed a Turkish coffee at the colourful alleys of the area.

I'm an atheist yet I found the Patriarch awesome and even more awesome when I learnt the story behind it! Not gonna go into details cause it's just too many but instead I'm gonna leave this Wiki link bellow in case you wanna find out more about it

And here are some photos I took at the colourful alleys of "Fener" I mentioned earlier

*What do you think about this graffiti?*

We spent more or less an hour there and then we were on our way to the most interesting part of my trip, the **"Bosphorous" Cruise**.

The cruise lasted for around an hour and we got to see Instanbul from a different point of view. The city sure feels big when you're walking it but when you're on a boat... you can tell it's HUGE!

We cruised in both sides of the city (European & Asian sides) and took a ton of photos to share with you. There's no way I can remember the names of all the sights I saw so I'm just gonna leave them photos bellow so you can enjoy the trip too hehe!

The cruise ship parked at "Ortaköy", an area famous for only one thing and that's the delicious and traditional "Kumpir" or "stuffed potatoes".

There area ton of different fillings you can add at your "Kumpir" and even though our guide suggested we try them with just cheese and butter I couldn't hold back and added a ton of stuff! Same goes for my mother haha!

After a cheap and delicious meal (2$/potato) it was time to call it a day and head back to the hotel so we can get some rest and be fresh for the next one! It was a day full of new experiences, tastes and of course a ton of fun! Travelling is the best, don't you agree?
